Product description

The Inxpect S202A-MC series consists of 3D safety radar sensors for presence and motion detection in industrial applications. The sensors operate using 60 GHz radar technology and detect objects and people in three dimensions. Within a single sensor, one or multiple three-dimensional detection zones (cuboids) can be defined, allowing the protection to be precisely aligned with the actual risk areas around machines and robots.

Configurable 3D zones (cuboids)

The detection zones can be freely positioned in space. Each zone is configurable in shape, size and position. The sensors can be mounted at any desired height, with up to a maximum of 16 dynamic fields available. This allows safety zones to be precisely matched to the machine geometry, without using one large generic detection field.

Three models within the series

The S202A-MC series is available in three versions. The S202A-MC1 supports one cuboid, the S202A-MC2 supports two cuboids, and the S202A-MC4 supports up to four separate cuboids within a single sensor. This allows multiple safety zones to be monitored with one radar sensor, reducing the number of required sensors, as well as cabling and mounting points.

Reliable detection and integration

The sensors in the S202A-MC series operate reliably under a wide range of industrial conditions and continue to function flawlessly in the presence of dust, smoke, vapour and changing light conditions. The sensors are housed in an IP67 enclosure and equipped with standard M12 connectors, making integration into existing installations straightforward. Configuration and validation are carried out via the Inxpect Safety Studio software, in which the cuboids are clearly displayed in 3D. The sensors are connected to an Inxpect controller that processes the safety signals and controls the outputs.

Field Of View (FOV)

Field of View (FOV) refers to the visible area that a sensor or optical system can observe from a specific viewpoint. This area is often expressed in degrees and indicates how wide or narrow the detection range of the sensor is.

Electro-sensitive protective equipment (ESPE)

ESPE indicates which safety functions an electro-sensitive protective equipment (ESPE) supports. ESPEs, such as light curtains and radar sensors, detect persons or objects in a hazardous area and ensure that a machine stops in time or cannot be started when the protection is interrupted.

Safety

In machine safety, Performance Level (PL) and Category (Cat) are often used to assess the safety of a machine. PL describes the safety performance of a safety system based on the likelihood of dangerous errors. Cat describes the safety measures based on the risk analysis of the machine.

Vertical plane

The vertical plane refers to the area that the radar sensor can detect in the vertical direction. This means that the sensor is capable of detecting movements that occur within a certain angle relative to the sensor in the vertical direction.

Restart time-out

A restart timeout refers to the period of time that elapses before a system or application is automatically restarted following a failure or crash. It is a predetermined interval within which the system or application is automatically started in an attempt to resolve the issue.
