Strainers

Y-strainer

When unwanted particles enter the installation, this can cause problems. Particles that flow through the pipe may pollute the product or a valve may become stuck in a certain position. Therefore, it is not a redundant investment to place a strainer. This is a fairly cost-effective way to protect your critically often expensive devices in the installation.

In the appendage world, the Y-strainer is the most common. It owes its name to the "Y" shape of the housing. In water and especially steam installations, this type is standard and is mainly used to protect critical components. A Y-strainer can be mounted in both horizontal and vertical pipes. Attention must be paid to the flow direction, often indicated with an arrow on the house.

Type of strainer screens

There are two different types of screens:

  • Perforated plate
  • Mesh screen

The perforated plate screen is, as it were, a plate in which round holes are perforated. Then the plate is rolled into a cylinder and welded together at the ends. A mesh screen is a sort of grid of stainless steel wires that form a screen through weaving. As a result, a mesh screen can often provide a finer filtering than a perforated screen.

Range of strainers

At Ebora you can choose from various Y-strainers and dirt traps in brass, stainless steel, cast steel, cast iron, bronze and PVC for the most common applications.
