MAXOS® - Made in Germany

MAXOS® safety sight and gauge glasses have proven themselves universally where visual process control is essential. This includes pressure vessels exposed to thermal and chemical loads and application of liquid level meters.

MAXOS® safety glasses are manufactured in accordance with national and international standards and regulations. The MAXOS® range includes a complete range of thermally prestressed (tempered) safety sight glasses and elongated sight glasses in sizes and thicknesses for different pressure and temperature ranges. MAXOS® sight glasses and gauge glasses are used at higher process pressures up to 400 bar, temperatures up to 300 °C and media with pH values from 2–13.

Maxos

The high level of safety provided by Maxos glasses is guaranteed by the use of special borosilicate glass with high chemical resistance, exceptional purity, and homogeneity. Combined with thermal prestressing (tempering), this ensures high precision and processing of sight and level glasses with the highest quality.

MAXOS® glasses are sold in more than 50 countries worldwide. Maxos special hardened reflex and transparent level glasses and sight glasses can be delivered in a large number of different sizes to meet customer requirements.

Maxos sight glasses withstand the most extreme influences and always provide decisive insights. The MAXOS® safety glasses are manufactured from the unique SUPRAX® 8488 borosilicate glass, well-known for its chemical resistance - especially to alkali and acid. The purity and chemical composition also enable superior thermal prestressing. Maxos' automated production process guarantees extremely tight tolerances.

Maxos Quality Certificates

Quality and safety are paramount to us. To prove this, we can provide corresponding test certificates for our MAXOS® safety sight glasses at any time upon customer request. We demonstrate conformity according to various industry standards with test reports 2.2 and inspection certificates 3.1 according to EN 10204. Additionally, we can provide our customers worldwide with certificates of food safety, compliance with FDA standards, and IHK certificates of origin or individual manufacturer declarations.

Glass Handling

Maxos safety glasses are manufactured and tested with a high level of precision and care. Until installation in a fitting, we recommend storing the glass in the original packaging. Contact with sharp edges and hard materials should be avoided, as should moving the glass on the workbench or in other workspaces. Under certain conditions, this can lead to damage in the form of scratches. When mounting in the sight glass fitting, chips and damage to the bevels of the sight glass should be avoided, as this can significantly reduce pressure loading.

When to Use Which Type of Maxos Glass?

Maxos Reflex Glasses

Maxos Reflex Glass

Maxos reflex level glasses are installed in meters with a closed back housing. The incident light is refracted by reflective grooves of the glass in the fitting. The area where the liquid is located is thus displayed as a dark line in contrast to the silvery gaseous area.

Maxos Transparent Glasses

Maxos Reflex Glass

These glasses are mainly used in meters open on both sides for high-pressure applications. The incident light (daylight or that from a luminaire) passes through both sight glasses between which the medium is located. The level is visible as a line or through the medium itself. With aggressive media or when using saturated steam, the transparent level glasses should also be provided with mica protection.

Maxos Production Process

The mechanical strength and pressure resistance of MAXOS® safety glasses depend on many factors. Decisive factors include thermal prestressing, glass homogeneity, parallelism, exact dimensions, and a flawless surface. At Maxos, an ultramodern glass melt process ensures homogeneous SUPRAX® 8488 borosilicate glass that is virtually free of streaks and air bubbles. High-quality grinding and polishing processes result in particularly flat and plano-parallel surfaces. The prestressing that occurs during thermal annealing is crucial for the strength of the glass. Maxos ensures all dimensional and tolerance specifications through process-integrated tests. All processing steps can be traced using a code on the glass.
