BT6-B and BT6-B Food+ Sanitary Balanced Pressure Thermostatic Steam Trap
Installation:
In a vertical pipe, with the flow direction according to the arrow on the housing and downward, the condensate pot is fully self-draining even when the installation is stationary.
The connection terminals, seals, and connectors are not included.
A sufficient cooling line should be provided for the condensate pot to prevent the smallest amount of condensate under normal working conditions. The capsule should not be exposed to overheating. The housing and element should be handled carefully to avoid damaging the machined surfaces.
Operation:
The operation consists of a stainless steel element filled with a temperature-sensitive liquid. In cold conditions or during startup, the element is fully open, allowing large volumes of air, condensate, and/or CIP fluids to be discharged. When the system reaches steam temperature, the liquid in the element expands, causing the valve to seat and the condensate pot to close, preventing steam loss. The closing moment occurs very close to the steam temperature to guarantee perfect drainage.
The Spirax Sarco BT6-B sanitary thermostatic pressure-balanced condensate pot is designed for removing condensate from pure and clean steam installations with a minimum of retained condensate.

The groove-free body of the BT6-B, made from 316L, includes a seat at a 15 angle to ensure complete drainage. The standard element is extremely sensitive to temperature fluctuations of the condensate and is designed to open with a minimal subcooling of less than 2C from the saturated steam temperature 50 mm above the condensate pot and at pressures below 2.4 bar eff. The perfect operation is influenced by the operating pressure, setup, and environmental conditions. Each condensate pot is individually packaged in a clean ISO CLASS 7 environment, with shielding caps over the pipe connections, in a sealed plastic bag.

Surface Treatment (ISO 4287-1997 and ISO 4288-1997):
Internal parts have a finish of 0.6 µm (25 micro-inch Ra, ASME BPE SFV2). External parts finish: 1.0 µm (40 micro-inch Ra).
Options:- Fixed bleed for 'FAIL OPEN' operation
- Mechanical and electropolishing up to 0.375 µm (15 micro-inch Ra, ASME BPE SFV4) (standard in Benelux)

The BT6-B is designed and manufactured in accordance with ASME BPE and complies with the European Pressure Equipment Directive.
All seals comply with the following standards:
- FDA CFR Title 21, Part 177, Section 1550
- USP Class VI Section 87 and 88, at 121C for 1 hour
- ADI (Animal Derived Ingredient) free for materials used in production processes for this part
